The Importance of Exercise & Taking Care of yourself

Today, you see it everywhere, health problems, rising health insurance costs and so much more.  You have to take care of yourself and be more proactive with your health.  The internet helps in so many ways of connecting and researching what to do with so many health problems.

The soul purpose of this page is to motivate you to want to take good care of yourself.  If I can prevent more people from getting as sick as I am, that's what I intend to do.

If you don't have too much motivation for getting out to exercise, consider getting a pet or a dog.  Animals are great medicine for your soul and they can motivate you to exercise.   It is a great start for motivating you to get out and walk.  Walking is great exercise anyway especially is you have a smiling buddy to do it with. 

If you are not into getting a pet just yet, consider playing golf.  You walk a lot just playing just a 8 or 9 holes of golf and it is a game of honesty.  You don't quite understand that concept until you do play golf.  The honesty part comes in when it comes to following rules.

Yoga is an excercise of stretching and it seems to be catching on much more lately and that is a good thing.  I feel is one of the better exercises for those who are limited in their movements and/or basically just need to distress, relief them from pain related to arthritis or other nerve, muscle or bone pain.  One good stretch is to sit in a chair facing a solid wall and reach up as high as you can with both arms.  Breath in slowly as you are reaching up and then pause and let it out and you reach again.  I learned many methods in several articles of Yoga Magazine.

















































































































































One tip you can follow while relaxing and watching TV on the couch. During the commercials try running up and down the stairs until the your show comes back on. If you don't have stairs, jumping jacks will do.  Take the dog out for a quick walk.  What ever you do, don't sit on the couch and find another show to watch during those commercials.

Bicycling is another great form of exercise and also a popular mode of transportation as the price of gasoline is nearing $100 a barrel. What better excuse do you need?  When traveling to any city, you can even rent bicycles to use and this is by far the best way to experience a city. 

Mountain or trailriding are two other fun ways to get out and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Eating Well


I know its cliche but you are what you eat.  Its best to try to eat your food as fresh as possible. Farmer's Markets are the best way to go all around.  You really can't get any better taste than from organic.  If you read labels carefully, items which are made from refined sugars or preservatives are leading to more and more cancers and other serious health conditions. Before you buy anything to eat, AWAYS look at the ingredients.  I can't stress that enough.  It seems a majority of food items lately have hydrogenated oils.   One of the ingredients I often look for which picking up non parishable food items and or snacks is "Hydrogenated" on any label.  If I do see it, I put it right back where I found it and I won't buy it. 

Hydrogenation is a process for preserving food and what happens if the oil is heated at such a high temperature that is literally only 1 molecule away from being plastic.  Plastic lasts pretty much forever as we are now finding out and I wonder how long it will last inside me.  What happens when you heat something in the microwave in plastic container?

It's appalling to me that we are fed this; that's exactly what margarine is.  I guess if you can't get rid of it, why not just feed it to the masses?  I pray  they won't start putting this in pet food if they aren't already.


Instead of eating junk food or chips, go for the most colorful fruits and vegetables you can and realize the nourishment you are receiving as opposed to a candy bar or a bag of chips.   I know, easier said than done, but at least try it.  Please check out this wonderful video which features the truth about nutritian and how it can improve your body, mind, and soul!

Drink Plenty of Water

Colas and or soft drinks with lots of sugar are not good for us at all. Diet Drinks actually cause more harm than good.  It's better to just have the sugar than to drink the cancer causing ingredients in Diet Drinks.  If you really need a taste of something when drinking, try slicing a lemon, lime, or even an orange and place it in your drink. It's so much better for you than drinking something with so many processed sugars.


Let's face it, water is a better alternative.  If you are not a fan of drinking water, you can always water down some fruit juice, or add a slice of lime, lemon, or orange to your water.  Too many people don't like to drink water but it is so vitally important to your body. 


If there is anyone that can vouch for trying to stay healthy it is me.  Good health is something not to take for granted.  You are what you eat so try your best to take each day one day at a time and one 1 meal at time.  I find it helps to eat slowly, drink lots of water, and just try to make better choices as to what you eat.  Don't punish yourself too much if you make the bad choices; just try better next time around.
